Renormalized Perturbation Theory (RPT) and transport through quantum dots in the Kondo regime

The theoretical research will be conducted in close collaboration with the group of R. Haug on the experimental side as well as with theory-oriented groups of W. Brenig, H. Frahm and E. Jeckelmann. The investigations will be based upon the recently suggested Renormalized Perturbation Theory [1,2] . The focus of the present project is (1) to provide a better quantitative understanding of the observed phenomena in external fields by realistically modeling the electronic properties of the QD and (2) to assess the validity and applicability of RPT to systems out of equilibrium.
