Michael Oestreich is the coordinator of the DFG priority program ”Semiconductor Spintronics”. His main research interest is ultrafast magneto-optical spectroscopy at high magnetic fields and low temperatures. He is an expert on the spin and carrier dynamics in low dimensional semiconductors including spin injection, spin detection, spin manipulation, spin relaxation, spin-dependent bosonic exciton scattering, and spin-optoelectronic devices. His group was the first to introduce spin noise spectroscopy to semiconductors, increased the sensitivity of the technique by three orders of magnitude, and was the first to demonstrate spin noise spectroscopy on low dimensional semiconductors. The group currently operates four Shot noise limited spin noise spectroscopy setups and two time-resolved magneto-optical streak camera experiments.
